 In August of 2025, Cipher Press turns 5 - wild! This makes us still a baby in the world of publishing, but we’re so proud of what Cipher has become over the past five years - and this is all down to readers like you.

 As ever, we’re busy making plans for our future and are looking forward to growing Cipher over the coming years, to publishing more queer and trans writing, to finding new authors. To help us along the way, we’re renewing our subscription model for our 2025 list. By subscribing, you can get your mits on all five books we’re publishing throughout 2025, fresh from the printer.

 Why we’re doing this

If you follow any indie publishers on social media, you probably already know that we’re up against some real challenges. Print costs are still rising, review space is scarce, and there is still… Amazon. We’re constantly planning ahead to try and lessen the impact. Buying direct from publishers and pre-ordering our books makes such a huge difference – not only does it help contribute towards future print runs, but we’re able to pay our authors better royalties, and commission more titles. 

 We’re also just really excited to be part of the ever-growing queer lit scene in the UK, and we’ve loved watching this subscription develop into a community of readers and writers championing queer and trans authors and the books they write. 

How it works

A 2025 Cipher Press Subscription costs £75 for UK readers, and £120 for overseas.* For that, you’ll get every book we’re publishing this year, an eBook of each, and any merch we make.

 That £75 (or £120 for overseas) is less than if you buy our books individually and covers the cost of postage. It’s a one-off cost – we’ll be renewing the subscription each year as a one-time payment, so you can choose whether you want to continue or not. 

 What you’ll get

In 2025 we’re publishing 5 incredible books – we’ll send you both print copies and an eBook edition:

·      Bone Horn by Prudence Bussey-Chamberlain

·      Casanova 20 by Davey Davis

·      Terry Dactyl by Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore

 As well as our books, you’ll get any postcards, bookmarks, badges, posters, and any other weird things we make to go with them.

*We’re really sorry we’re still not able to ship books to the EU due to VAT changes as a result of Brexit, but we promise we are constantly looking for solutions to this and will update you as soon as we come up with something.
